Our HistoryMolding Excellence for over 55 YearsMOLDING TECHNOLOGIES was founded by Robert E. Griffith and Charles D. Jones in 1949. The two began in a two car garage on Cambria Street in Newark, Ohio and moved to present location in 1950. Bob and Charlie were employees of Owens Corning Fiberglas, Application Development Lab in Newark, Ohio and saw the potential of composites.
In 1973 MOLDING TECHNOLOGIES made its first acquisition by acquiring an operation from Sperry Rand Corporation in Lebanon, Ohio to serve one of its major customers, Kenworth Truck Company’s expansion in Chillicothe, Ohio Further growth occurred in 1976 when MOLDING TECHNOLOGIES acquired the major portion of Cincinnati Milacron’s compression molding equipment and customers. To facilitate the additional business Molding Technologies added 50,000 sq ft to its manufacturing facility. 1980 brought the closure of the Lebanon facility and consolidation of that operation into a single plant in Hebron, OH. With another addition of manufacturing space. In 1986 MOLDING TECHNOLOGIES was sold to G.L. Industries, Madison Heights, Michigan who later sold the Company to five key executives in 1989. In 2004, MOLDING TECHNOLOGIES was acquired by the private equity firm Summer Street Capital. Summer Street Capital’s principals are hands on operators who have significant operational experience and capital to rapidly grow and develop successful organizations. |
